We light one candle in the midst of all the darkness in our lives and in the world. It symbolizes our longing, our desire, our hope for the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Advent is also a season in which we need to reflect on how we are signs of hope to others. Through what we say and do we offer hope to those who may be discouraged, disillusioned or overburdened by life? Do we make the effort to encourage others during their difficult times? When people talk to us, do they come away from that conversation with a little more hope? Do I, even in the ordinary interactions of life, reflect a glimmer of the absolute goodness that God is?
