Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am writing as an update to my previous communication of today. As we are learning more, I want to
inform you of some additional information that is being reported widely in the media.

Guelph Police Services arrested and charged a high school teacher, Justin Lenssen, an employee of the
board, with the following: possession of child pornography, sexual exploitation, luring a child and
making explicit material available. We understand that this will add an additional layer of concern for
students and families. We are working with staff to prepare them to respond to their students’ needs.
For students with concerns or who may need additional support, Social Workers and Child and Youth
Workers will be available in the schools.

As this is an on-going investigation we are not able to provide any further details regarding this
situation. Given the serious nature of the charges this teacher will not be reporting for active duty at any school pending the outcome of the legal proceedings.

Guelph Police are asking parents and students that have had any interactions with Lenssen that are of
concern to contact the investigating officer, D/Cst. Joel APPS at (519)824-1212 ext. 7162. Anonymous
information can be left by calling CRIME STOPPERS at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The safety and well-being of our students and staff is of the highest priority. We will continue to
provide support as needed throughout this time.

We pray for all those impacted.
