Guelph is a vibrant community of over 120,000 people and is ranked among the top ten places to live in Canada. The city is located in one of the strongest economic regions in the country - 100 kilometers west of Toronto, just east of Kitchener-Waterloo. Guelph is rich in culture, architecture, parks and riverside green spaces. In 2009 Guelph was also named one of the country's smartest communities, its safest city, and Canada's volunteer capital. Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School is situated in the south end of Guelph. Students travel to school by school bus, public transportation, by means of cycling or walking through the south ends arteries of dedicated pedestrian pathways. It is close to so many amenities including parks, schools, public libraries, the local university, highway 401 and shopping venues, while boasting the beauty of carefully designed landscaped neighbourhoods.
