Wisdom, Honour, Courage
“Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.” St. Francis of Assisi
The Chaplaincy Team at Bishop Macdonell, together with the Pastoral Team, provide and encourage a variety of programs, bringing God’s grace and awareness to the students. Masses, liturgies, sacramental preparation and social justice initiatives are only a few of the many activities in which Bishop Macdonell students participate.
Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School offers a varied program of unique retreats for all grade levels. In grade nine, religion classes spend a full day at Crieff Hills Retreat Centre (Puslinch) getting to know each other and themselves through active participation in the messages and stories of the Gospels. Senior-grade peer minsters accompany the students and provide direction and insight. In 2011/2012, the grade 10 history classes will participate in outdoor sessions at St Brigid’s Villa on the Ignatius Jesuit Centre grounds. Here they learn about our fragile environment and how, as appointed stewards by God, they must look after it with care. The students also walk the Stations of the Cosmos and learn to appreciate our evolving and changing Earth. A fascinating Temple Tour of various places of worship enhances the Grade 11 World Religions course. In their final year, the grade 12 students participate in an overnight retreat in Toronto or a day at St. Brigid’s Villa. Both experiences encourage an awareness of and involvement in works of Charity and Justice.
We are proud of our students and the uniqueness they bring to our Catholic Community.
