VIP Award Winners 2009
Picture above from left to right: Claire Murphy, Adrianna DeCorso and Donna Zen.
Claire Murphy, St. Joseph
Positive, kind, caring and compassionate are words often used by teachers and peers to describe Claire Murphy.

Claire has a "green thumb" and has nurtured many classroom plants. She has a true love of nature and the earth. She has taken the initiative to maintain a little bit of the St. Joseph Catholic School history by preserving the daffodils that lined the front of the old St. Joseph Catholic School building. She is carefully tending to these bulbs and we look forward to seeing their bright yellow blooms at the new St. Joseph School.

Claire has a witty sense of humour and a great ability to always look at the glass as being half-full. She lives her faith on a daily basis and is wise beyond her years.

Her creativity shines through many art forms. Claire is a leader who follows her own path and leaves an impression on all those she meets.

Congratulations, Claire, on receiving this VIP award!

Donna Zen, Holy Rosary
Once again, at Holy Rosary we found ourselves in the pleasing situation of having a variety of worthy candidates for this year's VIP award. In addition to Donna's accomplishments and involvement in and out of school, what makes us proud when we think of Donna is her warm, good-natured and unfailingly mature disposition. She is very dependable and accepts any responsibilities asked of her without looking for glory. She is extremely well liked and respected by her peers, her teachers, and the student body.

Her quiet leadership has taken on many roles. She has worked diligently and consistently to maintain high academic standards for herself. She is heavily involved in school athletics representing Holy Rosary on many sports teams such as volleyball, and soccer. She is a reliable patrol captain and office helper and is an active member of our intramural council. She is a strong visible witness of our faith in our school community. She altar serves and is an excellent Christian model to her peers and the younger students at Holy Rosary.

Thank you, Donna, for all of your positive contributions to your school and community. Congratulations on this award!

Adrianna DeCorso, St. Paul
This year's recipient of the VIP award was an easy selection. Adrianna DeCorso is the perfect embodiment of a hard working Catholic student.

She always comes to class ready to learn, focusing intently on lessons and asking questions to clarify. She then willingly shares what she has learned with any of her peers that may require assistance.

Aside from giving her best academically, Adrianna respects her teachers, her classmates and herself. More significantly, this same respect is easily reciprocated by her peers. This is a monumental accomplishment considering the pressures and challenges facing her age group today. This quiet, positive leadership by example would make anyone who knows her extremely proud.

Congratulations, Adrianna! Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.
