Waterloo Wellington Children's Groundwater Festival Happening Virtually May 17-20

The Waterloo Wellington Children's Groundwater Festival is a unique water education opportunity for students Grade 2 to Grade 5.

For 25 years, the Festival has offered 'hands-on' learning, delivered in a fun and interactive way. The 2021 Festival is virtual, so will look a little different. But it is still full of great content to teach students about the role local water plays in science, technology, geography and the environment.

The 2021 festival will take place May 17-20 with a 90-minute session each day on a different theme.

May 17 - Water everywhere! Learn about the water cycle, states of water and what we can do to help take care of this important resource.
May 18 - We all live in a watershed. Learn about watersheds, how water systems are connected, the Great Lakes and what we can do to reduce the impacts of plastics on the oceans.
May 19 - Groundwater, a hidden treasure. Learn about groundwater, why it is important to our community as our drinking water source and what it takes to move groundwater to our homes.
May 20 - The technology we use to move water. Go behind the scenes to learn about the technology and steps to manage storm water, provide clean drinking water and what happens to "it" after we flush our toilets.
