Meet Our Wellington Catholic DSB Team - Alijha Girgis-Tweedle

Each month we will be recognizing members of the Wellington Catholic DSB community who make this board such a special place to learn and work!

This month we are extremely proud to recognize, Alijha Girgis-Tweedle! Alijha Girgis-Tweedle, a teacher at St. John Catholic Elementary School in Guelph, spearheaded a joint wellness project between St. John's in Guelph and Holy Trinity Catholic Elementary School, that has seen students from three classes collect and organize items and food for people experiencing homelessness and meals for the Royal City Mission.

"Since I started my teaching journey at WCDSB, every day has been an adventure! I love working here because it feels like a home away from home. I always feel supported, encouraged and am given the creative freedom to try so many things! My students, their parents, my teaching partners, staff and coaching partners make every day a blessing. I feel like I have grown so much since joining this board and I am excited for all the possibilities the future holds. Working with Mrs. Gibson and Mr. Parkinson on our Community Wellness Initiative has been a humbling and eye-opening experience for our students and ourselves. I am fortunate to be a part of WCDSB, where we can encourage our students to think about the needs of others and to help support their local community," shared Alijha Girgis-Tweedle.
