At Holy Trinity Catholic School, an exciting coding club just wrapped up, leaving students buzzing with new skills and excitement. Over the past few weeks, our Grade 5 Coding Club met with three dedicated staff coaches and three fantastic Grade 6 helpers to explore the world of micro-bits and coding.
Each session was full of discovery, with students learning to program micro-bits to play cheerful melodies, display symbols and images on LED screens, and respond to button presses. Some even took it a step further by experimenting with coding logic! One group managed to create a clever "alarm system" that went off when the light dimmed—an impressive feat that showed how quickly our students were grasping coding concepts.
This club not only introduced our students to the basics of programming but also fostered teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Watching the students help each other and celebrate each little victory was the highlight of every session. As they move forward, we hope the curiosity and confidence sparked here will continue to grow. We can't wait to see what they’ll create next!
