The Wellington Catholic District School Board has partnered with Wellington Early Learning Centre (WELC) to expand its high-quality before and after school program at Mary Phelan Catholic School. This program is designed to provide families with a safe, enriching, and convenient option for their children outside of school hours.
Having launched this past September, the before and after school program – offered at many Wellington Catholic DSB sites – provides families with an onsite care solution allowing for a seamlessly transition from school to care all while eliminating extra travel for parents.
“Our program encourages independent thinking, problem-solving, and social skills development through engaging activities tailored to different age groups. Licensed educators ensure that children receive quality care in a safe and nurturing environment, giving parents confidence in their childcare choice,’ shared Tammy Gallant, Wellington Early Learning Centre program administrator.
Drop-off is available as early as 7:00 AM, and pick-up runs until 6:00 PM, providing flexibility for working families.
Throughout the care before and after schools, children receive nutritious snacks and enjoy a variety of activities that encourage creativity, teamwork, and leadership skills.
“We offer children a lot of activities according to their interest and age,” shared Upasna Arora, site supervisor. “Families can register at any time based on availability. Additionally, WELC is approved for subsidies, making quality childcare more accessible to families in need.”
In addition to before and after school care for school days - full-day programs are available during PA Days, March Break, Winter Break, and Summer Break, ensuring year-round support for Mary Phelan CS families.
