February 18, 2026 - Boundary Update

The Wellington Catholic District School Board recently completed a boundary review to determine appropriate boundaries for St. Martin of Tours. This review impacts the current boundary for surrounding schools including St. Mary in Mount Forest, St. Mary in Elora and St. John in Arthur.

To establish the boundary, the Board completed the internal boundary adjustment process informed by the Attendance Area and Grade Structure Review Procedure and presented the final boundary details at the Policy and Corporate Services Meeting on February 17.

Important information regarding the new boundary:

  • All students who reside within the new boundary will attend St. Martin of Tours beginning in September 2027
  • Students entering Grade 8 as of 2027 who reside within the new boundary will have the option to remain at their current school to complete their graduation year. Siblings of these Grade 8 students will be rerouted to St. Martin of Tours
  • Families who wish to have their child attend a school outside of their designated boundary can apply for out of boundary status, and applications will be processed according to the existing board policy

All families who are affected by the boundary change will be contacted by the Board this week with details regarding their designated school assignments.

Students from St. Mary (Mount Forest) and St. John (Arthur) Catholic Elementary Schools visited the site of the new school in the fall and took place in a land blessing led by Hadihawis Parent, a member of Six Nations of the Grand River. Construction began in late 2025, including the installation of construction fencing and initial grading of the land. We will continue to share updates as construction progresses.

At the Meeting of the Board on October 6, Trustees approved the executive council's recommendation to name the new school St. Martin of Tours

The name was selected because of the strong connection to the local community and parish, along with significant input from students at St. Mary Catholic Elementary School in Mount Forest who put together a compelling submission for the name. We are proud to incorporate the voices of our students, local parishioners, and community members in shaping the school's legacy and identity.

We are pleased to share initial renderings of the new school. Information regarding timelines, progress, registration, etc. will be shared as it becomes available.
