All schools across Wellington Catholic DSB have been participating in a variety of learning activities to reflect on the history and legacy of residential schools, and to honour Survivors, their families, and communities. Here are a few examples of how our students are getting involved:
- Students at St. James participated in a finger weaving workshop led by one of our Metis community partners. The bracelets made were sold to students to raise money for Geronimo's Dream
- Bishop Macdonell's Student Justice Committee designed buttons for Orange Shirt Day that were sold to raise funds for the Orange Shirt Society. The school also held a ceremony to recognize the importance of truth and reconciliation and raise the Orange Shirt Day flag
- Holy Rosary created a beautiful display at the front of the school with information about Truth and Reconciliation Week. Students have be participating in a variety of activities, such as learning about and creating land acknowledgements
