Posted on 12/02/2025

On Friday, November 28, members of the Guelph Police Service Human Trafficking and Internet Child Exploitation units were invited to speak to Wellington Catholic DSB staff at our professional development day.

This session included information on the prevalence, signs, and dangers of human trafficking and internet child exploitation. This important discussion allowed teachers and staff to increase their awareness of these crimes and the police and community supports available.

“We would like to thank Director Glazier and the Wellington Catholic District School Board for their leadership and collaboration in facilitating this important discussion,” said Police Chief Gord Cobey. “This is an excellent example of what we can achieve when we all work together to support the development and education of our youth and the health and safety of our communities.”

“The safety and well-being of our students is always our top priority. We are grateful to the Guelph Police Service for their support in raising awareness and providing critical education to our staff on these issues,” said Mike Glazier, Director of Education at Wellington Catholic DSB. “Everyone has a role to play in crime prevention. By staying informed and vigilant, we can better support our youth and create a safer community for all.”
