Each spring, district school boards are required to establish a school year calendar for the following academic year in accordance with Regulation 304, School Year Calendar. This regulation outlines key parameters, including the start and end dates, school holidays, and requirements for instructional, professional activity, and examination days.

  • School Year Duration:

    • 194 instructional days

    • First day of school: Wednesday, September 3, 2025

    • Last school day for secondary students: June 24, 2026

    • Last school day for elementary students: June 25, 2026

  • School Holidays:

    • Labour Day: September 1, 2025

    • Thanksgiving Day: October 13, 2025

    • Christmas Break: December 22, 2025 – January 2, 2026 (inclusive)

    • Family Day: February 16, 2026

    • Mid-Winter Break: March 16 – March 20, 2026 (inclusive)

    • Good Friday: April 3, 2026

    • Easter Monday: April 6, 2026

    • Victoria Day: May 18, 2026

  • Professional Activity Days:

    • Secondary Schools: Seven PA Days

All school year calendars must be submitted to the Ministry of Education by March 1, 2025, for approval.
