It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of the Honourable Justice Murray Sinclair.
A former member of the Canadian Senate, Justice Sinclair also served as the Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) which led to the 94 Calls to Action for Reconciliation between Canada and Indigenous peoples. Through his wisdom and advocacy, he has inspired us all to a renewed commitment to respect, understanding, and unity. His dedicated work has reminds us all of our collective responsibility to learn the truths of the residential school system and commit to the necessary work to help heal and develop relationship with one another. Through Treaties Week, we honour Senator Sinclair’s legacy and the importance of treaties and action to support reconciliation. As we reflect upon the life and work of Murray Sinclair, flags at all Wellington Catholic District School Board sites are being lowered to remember his lasting impact.
