Wellington Catholic Stands Against Hate

On Wednesday, June 28, in our neighbouring community, the University of Waterloo experienced an on-campus incident of hate-motivated violence related to gender identity and gender expression.  As a Wellington Catholic community, we extend our prayers to the victims of this incident, members of the 2SLGBTQ2IA+ community, and students and staff of the University of Waterloo.

The Wellington Catholic District School Board stands in solidarity with the University of Waterloo and other educational institutions in our region against all forms of hatred.

As a symbol of our support to the University of Waterloo and our 2SLGBTQIA+ community, the Wellington Catholic District School Board will continue to fly the Pride Flag at our Catholic Education Centre for an additional week until the end of the day on July 7, 2023.

The Wellington Catholic District School Board is committed to ensuring all students feel safe, valued, and included in our schools. We want students and staff who identify as members of the 2SLGBTQ2IA+ community to know that you are loved and respected as children of God and we are committed to standing up against all incidents of hate, oppression, and violence in our schools and work places.

Together we can make safer communities for all.
